Blog Comments

If you choose to leave a comment on a Capstone blog post, a small amount of data associated with your web identity will be collected by Akismet, a division of Automattic, the parent company of our web host WordPress.org and site platform WordPress.com. Akismet collects data in order to identify, block, and proactively prevent spam comments from being left on WordPress-hosted blogs. Akismet has its own privacy policy, which allows you to request a copy of your data or ask for it to be deleted from Akismet servers. You can find their privacy policy and a link to their contact form at https://akismet.com/privacy/.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and web address in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies persist for one year from your most recent visit to this Website.

Website browsers use cookies to optimize your experience on the internet. They can remember your past access to a website for the purposes of streamlining login functions, personalizing targeted ads, remembering what you’ve saved in an online shopping cart, and allowing you to remain logged into a website while visiting other websites. We do not employ any of these cookie functions on our Website. We use your cookies for the sole purpose of saving your details when you comment on blog posts and articles, as described above. WordPress (the platform hosting this website) may, however, leave additional cookies in your browser per WordPress’s own privacy policy, which you may review at https://wordpress.org/about/privacy/.

Embedded content from other websites

Capstone prefers not to embed content from other websites for security and privacy reasons. However, articles, blog posts, or applets on this site may sometimes include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

Capstone Education Advisers does not share, sell, lease, rent or transfer visitors’ data with third parties. For Website visitors’ security and comfort, visitor comments may be screened with an automated spam detection service.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue, as well as to encourage integrity among those commenting on our site. These data and metadata are never sold or transferred to any third parties, other than the third-party spam protection service built into this website. If you would like us to delete your comment data and metadata permanently, please contact info@capstoneadvisers.com with the subject line “Delete Comment History & Data”. If you request that we delete your comment history and data, the entire comment history associated with your account will be erased permanently. Capstone reserves the right to unilaterally remove any comments or ban any commenters who write offensive, hurtful, inappropriate or violent content in the comments section.

What rights you have over your data

If you have subscribed to our blog, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you request a copy of your data, we cannot guarantee that it will be delivered in a timely fashion due to administrative constraints (we are a very small business). Therefore, it is recommended to request that your data simply be deleted if you are concerned about privacy.

How we protect your data

We use commercially available methods to ensure the security of the information we collect on the Website, whether provided by you or gathered automatically. This includes using standard security protocols and working only with reputable third-party vendors.

Because email communications are not secure, we request that you do not send private information to us by email. If you do, you do so at your own risk. Our clients have secure methods for communicating with us that do not pose these risks.

For security purposes, we use software programs to monitor network traffic and identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage, and have implemented protections against denial of service attacks. These protections also protect your data.

Which data breach procedures we have in place

Capstone relies on industry standard breach protections to mitigate the possibility of data breaches. In the unlikely event of a data breach, Capstone Education Advisers will provide information about the breach to all users who are potentially affected as soon as is reasonably possible.

Industry regulatory disclosure requirements

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page. If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ personal information, we will notify you by email to the email address specified in your account and/or through a notice on the Website home page. The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the bottom of the page. You are responsible for ensuring we have an up-to-date active and deliverable email address for you, and for periodically visiting our Website and this privacy policy to check for any changes.
