Custom College List: A New Service by Capstone

We are excited to announce our newest service!

Building a well balanced, well considered college list is one of the most important parts of the college application process, and it can be difficult for families trying to navigate the process on their own. They may have challenges assessing their student’s likelihood of admission to specific colleges, and they may not be familiar with college programs and campus experiences that will meet a student’s academic, social, and financial needs.

If the list is too top-heavy with highly selective colleges—no matter how strong the student appears to be as an applicant—the student may have few options in the spring of their senior year. If the colleges on a student’s list don’t have the programs, campus community, or social experiences the student needs, the student may not thrive in their campus environment.

Capstone's newest service, Custom College List (CCL), provides students with a list of colleges that are likely to be a great fit for the student. We gather information on the student’s classes, grades, test scores, activities, and high school, as well very detailed information from student and parent questionnaires on what the student is interested in studying, their unique educational needs, and what they are looking for in a college.

CCL+ is an optional add-on for families interested in a supplementary hour of face-to-face time with a Capstone Consultant, where we will answer your specific questions about the list-building process, and give you personalized strategies for approaching the application process from a position of strength.

We encourage you to check out two articles by one of our wonderful past interns, giving advice for building the college list and finding a good-fit college. For more information about our new Custom College List services, please reach out to us, and tell a friend you think would be interested!
